Program Options for Students

The rearing education program takes advantage of the multidisciplinary character of our research program.  Students seeking a master’s degree in entomology with a specialization in rearing are encouraged to develop three areas of specialization from the list below, and students seeking a Ph.D. in entomology with a rearing emphasis are encouraged to develop six areas of specialization from this list:

  • Insect Diets

  • Insect Microbiology

  • Insectary Environments

  • Packaging Technology

  • Feeding and Reproductive Biology in Relation to Rearing

  • Quality Control and Process Control in Mass-Rearing Systems

  • Genetics of Reared or Domesticated Insects

  • Diagnostics and Problem-Solving in Rearing Systems
